JAMMU, Sept 20: In a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Govt. Degree College Sidhra organized an illuminating 'Book Reading Session' centered on the autobiography of the Father of the Nation, titled "My Experiments with Truth." This event, conducted under the auspices of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), aimed to delve deep into the life and principles that shaped the iconic leader.
Students from diverse semesters of the college came together to read excerpts from the profoundly insightful autobiography, "My Experiments with Truth." The readings offered a poignant journey through the life of Mahatma Gandhi, from his early years in Rajkot and Porbandar to his pivotal experiences in South Africa and his unwavering commitment to India's freedom struggle. This autobiography, often hailed as one of the most significant spiritual works of the twentieth century, shed light on the profound principles that guided Gandhiji's life.
The students took this opportunity to reflect on various aspects of Mahatma Gandhi's life, emphasizing the enduring principles that defined him. Discussions revolved around the transformative events that molded his personality and the profound influence of his views on non-violence and truth.
Adding to the enriching experience, Prof. Pooja Sharma, Head of Department (HOD) of Dogri, shared her insights on Gandhiji's life and the crucial events that shaped him into the iconic figure he became. She also elaborated on the timeless significance of truth and non-violence in our lives, leaving students deeply inspired.
The event served as an eye-opener for students as they uncovered lesser-known facets of Mahatma Gandhi's life. Many were pleasantly surprised to discover hidden gems about his journey.
The event was orchestrated through the dedicated efforts of Prof. Pooja Sharma and Prof. Shonima Malhotra, HOD of Sociology, with the unwavering support and coordination of Dr. Anu Sharma, HOD of Botany. It was carried out under the able guidance of Dr. B. B. Anand, the esteemed Principal of Govt. Degree College Sidhra.
