JAMMU, Sept 20: Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Saloni Rai, graced the inaugural ceremony of a three-day Multimedia Exhibition held at Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh, Udhampur district. The exhibition, focused on themes of Seva (Service), Sushasan (Governance), and Garib Kalyan (Welfare of the Poor), as well as G20, Mission LiFE, and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Udhampur, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The event took place on the sidelines of Block Divas.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Basantgarh, Wahid Manhas, highlighted that a multitude of Government of India welfare schemes, including PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana), PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana), PMAY Grameen and Urban, JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission), and more, have been implemented in Basantgarh, a remote area in Udhampur district. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach the most disadvantaged members of society. Mr. Manhas also stressed the vital role of students in disseminating information about government schemes, policies, and programs to their families and communities.
Manhas highlighted the government's substantial investments in road construction and the development of highways across the country to connect previously isolated areas with the mainstream. This infrastructure development aims to bridge the communication gap and improve connectivity.
Several government officials, including Khursheed Yousuf (Field Publicity Officer, CBC Udhampur), Soumit Sapolia (Branch Head, JK Bank), Pradeep Singh (Agriculture Department), Dr. Surinder Kumar (Sheep Husbandry Department), Rakesh Paba (Fisheries Department), and Dr. Sunil Bhaderwaj (Animal Husbandry Department), addressed the attendees. They provided valuable information about various government schemes offered by their respective departments to benefit the local population.
In addition to students and local residents, the event saw the participation of Principal HSS Basantgarh, Rajinder Kumar, and TA (S) CBC Udhampur, Gurnaam Singh. The day featured an on-the-spot quiz competition focusing on Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan, as well as patriotic songs performed by students. Cultural programs were presented by an empanelled Private Registered Troupe of CBC, J&K, and Ladakh. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition.
The three-day Multimedia Exhibition in Basantgarh served as a platform to raise awareness about various government initiatives and schemes, ensuring that these programs reach remote communities and contribute to their welfare and development.
