E-bike set to roll on Jammu roads

Jammu Feb 02- SAR Group enterprise and global leader in the field of Packaged Energy and Power Products, forays into automobile sector opened its exclusive showroom (Parihar Motors) here today.
According to Naresh Nayyar, Director Sales and Marketing, "The Lectrix Motors limited will take biking to a new level. The two-wheeler market in North India especially in Jammu is a fast growing market, hence it has a strong potential for electric vehicles as well, so we look upon it as one of our key target markets for the future. Lectrix E bikes are launched in India, based on Swiss Technology supplemented by our core competence in EDT (Electronic Drive Train)", he said.
"Being into the business in deep cycle and automotive batteries we understand the need of the consumers in a better way and we are using our research and experience of two decades to provide them with the best." Nayyar added.
The Indian market size of e-bikes right now is of 500 crore and is expected to grow to 600 crores in next 4-5 years. And in terms of volume e-bikes market in India is at a nascent stage right now. Around 2 lakh units are there in market and are expected to grow to 30 lakh unit in next 4-5 years. The company is planning to invest Rs. 200 crore in next five years and also setting up a plant in Himachal Pradesh. Initially Lectrix will be launching e1 model in various colours in the price range of Rs. 28,500 – Rs. 31,000 (on road price). The bike is very economical to drive and runs approximately 700 Kms in the cost of 1 litre petrol. The product will be made available through 350 dealers throughout India by the year 2009-10, he said.
"These exclusive outlets will also merchandise and sell all luminous power products i.e. Inverters, UPS, Deep Cycle Inverter & Tubular Batteries, SMF Batteries etc… All latest range of luminous products will be available through this exclusive outlet."
According to Sanjay Parihar owner of Parihar Motors, his outlet will be fully equipped to provide prompt and efficient after sales service and spares for Lectrix e bikes.
The future of these e- bikes is very bright. These e- bikes are the answer to the increasing pollution and global warming worries. Apart from being zero emission, these are very efficient and economical. The running cost is 10 paise per km. and the electrical consumption is just one unit per charge where each unit costs only Rs. 5. These are exempted from Motor Vehicle Rules, thus no registration or license is required. These are gearless bikes thus very easy to drive and are almost maintenance free
