UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, marked the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti with an engaging Intra-College Declamation Contest, fostering awareness of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and ideals. The event, held on September 22, 2023, was conducted under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. Hans Raj, and centered around the theme "Truth and Non-Violence."
The primary objective of the contest was to acquaint students with the profound philosophy and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof. Hans Raj, the Principal of the college, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the essence of Gandhian Philosophy. He underscored the significance of following the path of truth and non-violence as a means to address societal issues, both at the local and national levels. Prof. Hans Raj commended the students for their enthusiastic participation in the event, recognizing their zeal to learn and engage with Gandhi's principles.
The declamation contest showcased the oratory skills and depth of understanding among the participating students. The results of the competition were as follows:
First Position: Sharuti Dogra, Second Position: Roopali Rajput and Third Position: Mehbish Akhter.
The competition was assessed by a panel of esteemed judges, including Dr. Akhter Hussain, Pardeep Kumar, and Ms. Swati Sharma, who provided valuable feedback and insights to the participants.
The entire event was impeccably organized under the supervision of Prof. Swati Dutt, Dr. Akhter Hussain, and Pardeep Kumar, ensuring its smooth execution.
Roopali Rajput and Rabia Shehreen, students from Semester V and Semester III respectively, played the role of anchors, adding a lively and engaging dimension to the occasion.
The Intra-College Declamation Contest not only celebrated the wisdom and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi but also encouraged students to reflect on the enduring relevance of truth and non-violence in today's complex world. It was a harmonious blend of education, enlightenment, and inspiration, fostering a deeper connection to the principles that continue to guide and shape our society.
