Govt College for Women Bhagwati Nagar commemorates Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary

JAMMU, Sept 22: Govt. College for Women Bhagwati Nagar paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary by organizing a series of enlightening activities. These events, all conducted under the able guidance of the college's Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol, aimed to commemorate the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation.
In one of these activities, the Department of Punjabi, led by Prof. Parwinder Kaur, arranged a visit to the 'Vee Library' located on Canal Road. Many students from the college participated in this educational excursion, expanding their knowledge by exploring books authored by Mahatma Gandhi himself and works by other eminent writers that delve into his life and accomplishments.
Continuing in the same spirit, a collage making competition and an Essay Writing Competition were also organized within the college. Approximately 20 students wholeheartedly participated in each event, showcasing their talent and creativity.
The Collage Making Competition centered on different facets of Gandhiji's life and his significant contributions to India's freedom struggle. The winners of this competition were as follows:
First Prize: Gurleen Kour
Second Prize: Vaishali
Third Prize: Sushmeet Kour
The Essay Writing Competition provided students with an opportunity to express their views on the topic, "Gandhiji as a guiding force in the freedom struggle of India." The winners of this competition were:
First Prize: Sania Rani
Second Prize: Jaspreet Kour
Third Prize: Manpreet Kour
Both competitions were judged by Prof. Anju Bala and Dr. Mosmi Raina, who recognized the depth of thought and the creative expressions of the participating students.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, the Principal of the college, emphasized the profound impact of Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha and non-violence movements on the destiny of Independent India. She highlighted that Gandhi's contributions were instrumental in shaping the course of India's struggle for independence and its subsequent development as a sovereign nation. Dr. Abrol underscored that Gandhi's role and influence in the journey towards freedom were so significant that they can never be overlooked or underestimated. His principles of peaceful resistance and non-violence not only inspired countless individuals but also served as a guiding light for the entire nation during its quest for self-determination. Gandhi's legacy continues to be a source of inspiration and a reminder of the power of peaceful activism in bringing about positive change.
