Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 22: The second phase of "Meri Maati Mera Desh" organized by NYKS J&K Ladakh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has seen remarkable activities unfold across the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Over the course of 22 days since its launch, this initiative has paid tribute to national heroes through various activities.
One of the significant aspects of this initiative is the "Kalash Yatras" (processions) that have been conducted throughout the UTs, where people have contributed soil and rice as symbolic souvenirs. These contributions will be transported to the National Capital in late October and serve as the foundation for the "Amrit Vatika" at Kartavyapath.
This grand event is a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by our national heroes who laid down their lives for the motherland.
Numerous programs were organized in the Jammu Division as part of this initiative. In Kathua district, a Kalash Yatra was carried out at Govt High School Sialag in the Sheetal Nagar block, with the presence of Headmaster Neelam Kumari. Similar programs were held in Panchayat Pranjali of Block Dinga Amb by NYV Neha Digra Nagri. Other events took place in Village Phinter of Billawar Block by NYV Shivali Verma, Village Amla Block Barnoti by NYV Mohd Yousaf, and Village Surrjan of Block Duggan.
In Rajouri district, a Kalash Yatra was organized in Block Panj Grian, which involved the collection of soil from various households.
The Kalash Yatras were also conducted in the Kashmir Division as part of the second phase of "Meri Maati Mera Desh." In Budgam district, National Youth Volunteer Neloffar Ali led a Kalash Yatra at Village Choon, with the active participation of Youth Club Members. Soil collection drives were held in Salkoot and More Mohalla of Kupwara District.
As part of this mega national event, Block-level Amrit Kalash Yatras will be conducted from 1st to 13th October 2023.
