Cong likely to appoint new incharge of J&K unit in place of Rajni Patil

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 23: Ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress high command is likely to appoint a new incharge of the Jammu and Kashmir unit in place of the incumbent incharge Rajni Patil.
Highly placed sources said that being a resident of Maharashtra Congress high command is seriously thinking of utilizing Rajni Patil services in her home state where the party has high stakes as compared to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that Congress high command has realized that Maharashtra is more important for the party in place of J&K where the party is in a position to give a tough fight on two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province only.
Sources said that Rajni Patil, who is a Rajya Sabha member, is also not interested in continuing as incharge of J&K Congress because during her tenure as AICC incharge J&K Rajni Patil has effectively streamlined activities of the party and now the Congress is on a revival path in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
During her tenure as incharge of the J&K unit of the party Rajni Patil faced many challenges especially after Congress stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the party and formed the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP).
Not only did Rajni Patil check Ghulam Nabi Azad’s design to lure party leaders she also managed the return of many Azad loyalists back in the party.
Rajni Patil was appointed as incharge of the J&K unit of the party in September 2020 replacing all-powerful Ambika Soni, who remained incharge of the J&K unit of the party for years together.
