Early Times Report
Jammu The Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen militants have the same conduits to ferry arms and ammunition and other logistic materials for keeping militancy alive in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that this came into the notice of the police after the arrest of an over ground worker, Muneer Hussain of Bharat (Doda), from Jammu city on Sunday evening.
During interrogation, he revealed that he used to ferry logistics for both the Hizbul and Lashkar militants. At the time of his arrest, he was driving a bus which he plies on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
"This is a unique case of its kind in which a militant of two outfits have been using the same people as couriers of information," said a top police official. The arrest was made on specific information by a police team kled by SHO Nowabad Arun Jamwal. SSP Jammu, Manohar Singh said that the police are probing links of the arrested over ground worker with other outfits as well. After being booked for harbouring militants, he has been sent to joint interrogation centre for detailed interrogation.
SSP Jammu said that he used to ferry shoes, clothes and other material for militants from Jammu. "The area where he lives is thickly forested and he used to ferry material for militants even from Doda market," he said.
Sources said that he had been active for the last nearly a decade. "The top militants Yasir and Iqbal Malik, who were top commanders of Lashkar, have been killed recently in Doda. He has been in close touch with one of the militants Nissar, who is a local Pakistan–trained militant. He has been providing vital information about presence of police and security forces in the area as well, sources said.
SP City Ranbir Kumar said "during preliminary investigations it has been revealed that the arrested over ground worker was working as their guide to provide them vital information for movement from one area to another to carry out their operation".
