9/24/2023 10:22:04 PM
Early Times Report
SAMBA, Sept 24: In a significant development, the Samba Police, under the vigilant oversight of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, has taken into custody a female suspect involved in a case of abetment to suicide. This arrest is part of the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of Mr. Bodh Raj from Rakh Amb Talli, Samba, a case that has already led to the apprehension of four other individuals who are currently in judicial custody.
The investigation originally began with inquest proceedings under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to determine the actual cause of death of Bodh Raj, a 52-year-old resident of Rakh Amb Talli, Samba. However, as the circumstances surrounding his demise raised suspicions, the case was subsequently converted into FIR No. 197/2023 under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 109 (abetment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Samba Police Station.
The initial information reached the Police Post Rakh Amb Talli on July 20, 2023, through reliable sources, reporting the demise of Bodh Raj. He had been under medical treatment at the Government Medical College (GMC) as a suspected poisoning case, and his unfortunate passing occurred at GMC Jammu.
In response to this information, the police promptly initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC to determine the true cause of death. During this ongoing inquest, the Police received directions under section 156 (3) CrPC from the Hon'ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Samba to register a formal FIR. In compliance with the court's directives, FIR No. 197/2023 under sections 306/109 IPC was filed at the Samba Police Station, leading to the arrest of four individuals who were subsequently placed in judicial custody.
The investigation into this case is being diligently carried out by SHO Police Station Samba, Daljit Singh, under the watchful guidance of Deputy SP Garu Ram and Additional SP Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, has emphasized that the Samba Police are conducting thorough investigations into mysterious death cases based on their merits. Any individuals against whom credible evidence emerges are being apprehended in accordance with the law. This commitment to upholding justice underscores the dedication of the Samba Police in ensuring that all cases are thoroughly examined, and justice is served.
