GDC Udhampur organizes orientation program for new students

UDHAMPUR, Sept 24: GDC Udhampur warmly welcomed its new batch of students during an orientation program designed to introduce them to the multifaceted aspects of college life. The event was organized by the Academics Coordination Cell of the college and was held in the College Vaatika and conference hall. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, the Principal of the college, along with other faculty members, was present to guide and motivate the newcomers.
Addressing the eager first-semester students, Principal Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta extended a heartfelt welcome and assured them that they were now an integral part of the GDC Udhampur family. He inspired the students by saying, "Here begins a new journey where even the sky is not the limit."
During his address, Dr. Gupta highlighted various facets of college life, including academic, curricular, extra-curricular, and sports activities. He shared the pride of the college's recent achievement of a B++ NAAC grading in the third cycle of its assessment. Additionally, he proudly mentioned the remarkable performance of the students who secured the highest number of positions in the University results of 2022. Dr. Gupta also delved into the rich tradition of the college and its alumni, who have achieved national and international repute in various fields such as Padmashree recipients, Vice Chancellors, Scientists, Businessmen, IAS, IFS, and JKAS Officers, Army officers, Judges, Professors, Reputed Lawyers, college Principals, Writers, Journalists, Counselors, Politicians, and International Sportspersons. He encouraged the newcomers to actively participate in all college activities while pursuing their academic goals and emphasized the importance of staying away from addiction and corruption.
In addition to the orientation program, the NCORD Cell of the college initiated a one-week Wellness Camp for the new students in the conference hall. During today's session, the students were educated on various aspects of wellness, particularly focusing on staying away from addiction and leading a more focused life. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Coordinator NCORD, delivered an engaging talk on "Meditation for Stress-Free and Addiction-Free Life" alongside "Education for Global Communion." The NCORD Members, including Dr. Rozy Bamba, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Prof. Anoksha Sharma, and Prof. Pardeep Singh, interacted with the students, discussing various aspects of personal development, positive attitudes towards life and society, academic excellence, and future goals. They provided valuable insights on how to excel in their respective subjects.
The orientation program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Anoksha Sharma, HOD Sociology, and Member of the NCORD Cell. The event aimed not only to acquaint the new students with the college environment but also to inspire them to embark on a successful and holistic educational journey at GDC Udhampur.
