JAMMU, Sept 25: In a continued celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, Government Degree College (GDC) Mahanpur organized a captivating book reading event centered around the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. This event, held under the guidance of the esteemed Principal of the college, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, aimed to pay homage to the enduring legacy of the Father of the Nation.
The theme for this enlightening event was "Truth and Non-Violence," reflecting the core principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Students from the 5th semester, namely Sneha Devi and Shubham Pathak, actively participated in the book reading session, sharing excerpts from Gandhi's writings such as "All Men Are Brothers" and "My Experience with Truth." Their presentations emphasized the importance of embracing Gandhian values as the pathway to attaining peace and success in life.
To conclude the program on a thoughtful note, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Sapna Devi, and the college librarian, Sh. Sourabh Dutta, elucidated the profound philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, offering valuable insights to the attending students.
The event saw the presence of eminent faculty members, including Dr. Balbinder Singh, Dr. Mohd. Sardar, and Dr. Parshotam Dass, who added their wisdom and perspective to the occasion.
The entire program was masterfully organized by Prof. Meena Devi, the NSS Programme Officer, and Prof. Suman, Head of the Department of Education, ensuring a seamless and enlightening experience for all participants.
This book reading event not only paid homage to the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi but also inspired students to uphold the values of truth and non-violence in their own lives. It was a fitting tribute to the great leader's enduring legacy, reminding everyone of the timeless relevance of his principles in today's world
