Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 25: Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy, a pioneering institution in the realm of pharmacy education and values, celebrated World Pharmacists Day in conjunction with the State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) Jammu and Kashmir. This momentous occasion served as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of pharmacists to healthcare and patient well-being. The theme for this year's celebration was "Pharmacists Strengthening Healthcare Systems - Angdaan Mahadan," spotlighting the critical role that pharmacists play in promoting and facilitating life-saving organ transplantation.
The event was inaugurated with a warm welcome to distinguished guests: Dr. Sanjeev Puri (Joint Director, SOTTO), Dr. Irfan Lone (Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO), and Anshu Sharma (Consultant Media, SOTTO), who were greeted by Abhimanyu Katoch (MD, Kawa Group), Dr. Heena Jamwal (Director, RGIP), and Adil Husain (Faculty, RGIP), along with the presentation of bouquets.
The event was elegantly anchored by Mansi Chadha (Faculty, RGIP), and the students of RGIP showcased their artistic talents through various activities and events such as speeches, slogans, and oaths to raise awareness about organ donation and underscore the pivotal role pharmacists play in the organ transplantation process. Seema Mattoo highlighted the vast industrial scope of Pharmacy.
Abhimanyu Katoch (MD) emphasized the significance of Organ Donation and commended the efforts of the SOTTO (J&K) team in promoting this noble cause among the masses. He further added that on this World Pharmacist Day, we celebrate the dedication and expertise of pharmacists worldwide, as they continue to save lives through their contributions to organ transplantation. Their commitment to promoting organ donation and supporting transplant recipients exemplifies the spirit of compassionate healthcare.
Dr. Sanjeev Puri (Joint Director, SOTTO J&K) lauded the management and staff members of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy for organizing such an informative event. He stated that events and programs of this nature are instrumental in creating awareness about organ donation, and pharmacists can actively engage in community outreach programs and healthcare campaigns to educate the public about this noble cause. Furthermore, pharmacists can provide information about the organ donation process, dispel myths, and encourage individuals to register as organ donors.
The event culminated with the Organ Donation pledge, which was read by Anshu Sharma. The organizing committee, consisting of Sumit Sharma, Arzoo Sharma, Dinesh, and Shamsher, was praised by the esteemed guests for the seamless execution of the event. The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Adil Husain, followed by a shared meal.
