Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: The NSS (National Service Scheme) Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, in line with the "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign initiated by the Government of India, organized a cleanliness drive in and around the college premises to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti 2023. This initiative aimed to highlight the significance of cleanliness and sanitation in the country.
These cleanliness drives serve as a valuable opportunity for students to actively engage in community service and play a pivotal role in raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness within their neighborhoods. NSS volunteers from various semesters of the college enthusiastically participated in the event.
The program was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. B. B. Anand, the Principal of GDC Sidhra. Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, NSS Program Officer (PO), played a crucial role in organizing and coordinating the event, ensuring its success. The NSS Unit and Dr. Adil Rashid Malik, the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) of the college, also provided essential support and assistance.
The cleanliness drive not only promotes cleanliness and hygiene but also instills a sense of responsibility and civic duty among the students. Such initiatives contribute to the betterment of society and align with the ethos of Mahatma Gandhi, whose birthday is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti - a day dedicated to commemorating his principles and values.
The NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra continues to actively engage in various community-oriented activities, furthering the spirit of service and social responsibility among the college students.
