DPAP completes one year without celebrating foundation day
No big function held; Azad makes his presence felt on social media

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 26: Many eyebrows are raised as no big function was organized to celebrate the first foundation day of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP).
Chairman of the party and former leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad posted some posts on his social media on the occasion of the first foundation day of the part but on the ground, there was no activity.
“Celebrating @DPAP_office Foundation Day. It’s been an incredible year of relentless dedication to public welfare! Huge shoutout to our party leaders and tireless workers who braved all odds on the streets, rain or shine. We’ve reached every corner, raised vital issues, and stayed true to our mission as the party of the masses. Thank you all for your unwavering support. The journey continues! DPAP Foundation Day”, Azad posted.
With much publicity, the Ghulam Nabi Azad had launched the “Democratic Azad Party” in Jammu on September 26, 2022. He also unveiled the flag of the new party.
Flanked by former Deputy Chief Minister and a prominent Dalit leader of Jammu and Kashmir, Tara Chand, and Ex-minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, former leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad launched the new party with much fanfare.
Ghulam Nabi Azad had snapped his 50-year-long relations with the Congress Party on August 26, 2022, terming the party “comprehensively destroyed”.
He also lashed out at Rahul Gandhi for “demolishing” the party’s entire consultative mechanism.
On December 22, 2022, Azad’s party faced a severe setback when its three top leaders- former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, former minister Manohar Lal Sharma and Balwan Singh- were expelled on charges of indulging in anti-party activities.
On January 6, at least seventeen loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, including two political stalwarts who were expelled from the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Friday rejoined the Congress party in New Delhi.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand along with former J&K Congress chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Ex-MLA Thakur Balwan Singh, and others rejoined the Congress party.
