Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: As part of the ongoing Hindi Diwas celebrations, the Dogri Department, in collaboration with the NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, organized a "Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita" (Hindi Poetry Competition). The competition aimed to promote the rich Hindi language and culture while paying tribute to the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
Students enthusiastically recited poems that revolved around the ideals of truth and non-violence, as espoused by Mahatma Gandhi. The poems served as a source of motivation, inspiring students to embrace these values in their lives. Participants from all semesters showcased their poetic talents with great zeal and enthusiasm, adding their unique perspectives to the theme.
The event allowed students to explore the intricacies of the Hindi language, focusing on the precision of expression, depth of thoughts, emotional resonance, and the musicality of words. Such competitions contribute significantly to building the students' confidence in speaking Hindi accurately and eloquently.
Dr. Harpreet Kour, Head of the Political Science Department, and Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Head of the Economics Department, served as judges for the competition. They had the challenging task of evaluating the poems based on their content, presentation, and creativity.
The top positions in the "Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita" were awarded as follows:
First Prize: Mannat Gupta, B. Com Sem-V
Second Prize: Neha Khokhar, Sem-V
Third Prize: Ambika Sharma, Sem-III
The event was meticulously organized by Prof. Pooja Sharma, Head of the Dogri Department, with active coordination from Dr. Anu Sharma, Head of the Botany Department, all under the able guidance of the college's principal, Dr. B. B Anand.
GDC Sidhra's celebration of Hindi Diwas through such creative and linguistic endeavors not only fosters a love for the Hindi language but also pays homage to the timeless wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi's principles.
