Jammu, Feb 03- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat framed corruption charges against Mangat Ram Sharma then posted Patwari Settlement Halqa Parladpur who was caught red-handed by the VOJ on June 4, 2007 while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 1800.
IN June 2007 when the accused Patwari who posted in the office Naib Tehsildar Settlement Gole-Gujral had demanded Rs 3000 as illegal gratification from complainant Ajay Kumar Badyal for issuance of revenue record in respect of land measuring 3.75 Marlas which he intended to purchase from one Manga Ram. After negotiations the transaction was settled at Rs 2000 and accused accepted Rs 200 as advance from the complainant and the balance amount of Rs 1800 was agreed to be paid on June 4, 2007. The complainant filed a complaint with the Vigilance Organization Jammu, who after registering the case constituted a trap team. The team laid a trap on June 4, 2007 and caught red-handed Patwari Mangat Ram Sharma and recovered Rs 1800 as illegal gratification. After completion of the investigation, challan was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. Court after going through the record framed the charge against the accused punishable u/s 161 RPC and section 5(1) (d) r/w section 5 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act BK 2006 and ordered for the trial of the case.
