| Bhim suggests changes in electoral process | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 3- Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman of JKNPP presented a strong recommendatory note to the Election Commission of India today suggesting revolutionary changes in the electoral process to save parliamentary democracy from the draconian hands of money and muscle power.
In his presentation to the Election Commission of India and to the leaders of National and State recognized parties who met in Nirvachan Sadan in a meeting convened by the Election Commission of India, the Panthers Party Chief demanded funding of Lok Sabha and Assembly election by the Election Commission of India, prohibiting the entry of criminals, offenders, musclemen and other undesirable elements into the Legislature.
Prof. Singh also pointed out the menace of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) in the election which has been manipulated easily by the candidates of the ruling parties’ even criminals and in this behalf quoted several examples of manipulation and electoral fraud committed by the Presiding Officers at the instance of the administration.
This presentation by Prof. Bhim Singh was submitted to the Election Commission of India and circulated among the representatives of National and State parties by Sanjoy Sachdev, President Delhi Pradesh National Panthers Party.
Prof Singh has warned that any failure on behalf of Election Commission of India to keep off money and muscle power from the electoral process shall prove a disaster for the greatest democracy of the world.
The JKNPP Chairman in his note to the ECI has said that the recent elections held in
Jammu and Kashmir and some other far-flung states should be eye-openers for the
Election Commission of India as well as those who have been struggling to ensure free
and fair polls for the state as well as Lok Sabha in this country and referred certain
irregularities, including misuse of official machinery.
