Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State in J&K, offered prayers at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, with an unprecedented turnout of devotees. The Waqf Board had made all the necessary arrangements to facilitate the festivities and accommodate the large gatherings at this and other prominent shrines in the region. With deep reverence, people had the opportunity to view the sacred relic of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) at the shrine.
Earlier, Dr. Andrabi led a cleanliness drive at the shrine, joined by a significant number of members of the public, given the thousands of devotees who had visited over the past twelve days. Subsequently, Dr. Andrabi spoke to the media about the spiritual revival in Jammu & Kashmir. She highlighted the evolving atmosphere in the region, characterized by a resurgence of spirituality and a renewed focus on Sufi ideology, which has deep historical roots in the land of Saints and Awlia (saints and spiritual leaders) who preached coexistence and peace.
Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi underscored the message of peace conveyed by Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and its significance in guiding the way forward for harmony. She expressed her satisfaction in witnessing the active participation of the majority population during Milad congregations, which were previously restricted by radical elements. Dr. Andrabi emphasized that the revival of the true spirit of Islam is a guarantee for establishing a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in Jammu & Kashmir.
