Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 3- Central Ground Water Authority and Central Ground Water Board, North Western Himalayan Region, Jammu organized two days training on ‘Roof Top Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial recharge to Ground Water; here today at Jammu University.
Prof B P S sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs was the chief guest while Maj Gen (Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, was the guest of honour at the inaugural function.
In his inaugural address Arun Kumar, regional director, CGWB, NWHR, Jammu while giving presentation on Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial Recharging said that rain water harvesting, if done by all, could be an ideal solution to the acute water scarcity, as it would help recharge the underground water table, Being a clean source of water, even through rooftop rainwater harvesting, this wastage can be reduced and that in turn would augment supply of water.
He said that one of the most important activities being undertaken under the Central Ground Water Authority is conducting of mass awareness program ground water problem areas. These programs help in making the general public as well government, semi government and private organizations aware of the problems of over exploitation and harmful affects of ground water pollution or poor quality of ground water.
