Jammu, Sept 30: To celebrate and promote the rich folk culture of Jammu & Kashmir, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) embarked on a three-day special Swachhta (cleanliness) awareness campaign. As part of this initiative, BLSKS presented its 382nd Musical Play titled “Swachhta Hi Seva” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production. The play was centered around the theme of “Swachh Bharat Mission.”
The event took place at the Government Higher Secondary School in Bhour Camp, Jammu, and was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including the Chief Guest, Sh. Rakesh Kumar, Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School, Bhour Camp, Zone Satwari, Jammu. Among the dignitaries were Rajesh Kumar, Jasbir Singh, Vikram Singh, Sahoil Khan, and senior teachers.
The program commenced with the rendition of the national anthem “Jan Gan Man” and “Vande Matram.” The musical play, “Swachhta Hi Seva,” featured various performances including songs, dances, nukkad (street) theater, skits, and more. The play was written, produced, and directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, with music assistance from Raju Bajgal, the music instructor at BLSKS.
The Chief Guest commended the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, which aims to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India by mobilizing the masses and reinforcing a “Jan Andolan” (people’s movement) for sanitation. The campaign encourages people from all walks of life to participate in activities promoting cleanliness and construction of toilets, with the ultimate goal of making India open defecation-free.
During the campaign, BLSKS will conduct two additional programs in remote areas of Jammu district to raise awareness among the masses. To reach a broader audience, songs related to the campaign’s theme were also uploaded on social media platforms.
In addition to the cultural performances, a skit on drug abuse was presented by the artists, and a pledge against drug abuse was administered to school children and teachers as part of the “Nasha Mukat Bharat” (Addiction-Free India) initiative. The Ministry of Social Justice honored the Principal of the host school with a certificate in recognition of their efforts.
Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, emphasized the importance of the day and urged people to actively contribute to making India a proud and clean nation. He also announced BLSKS’s commitment to presenting 200 programs every year on various themes, including tableaux, dance dramas, nukkad performances, songs, and initiatives promoting cleanliness and hygiene.
The “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, celebrated from September 30 to October 2, 2023, focuses on disseminating the importance of a clean village, reinforcing the idea that sanitation is everyone’s responsibility, and preparing for Swachh Bharat Diwas on October 2nd. This year’s theme is “Garbage Free India,” with a particular focus on visual cleanliness and the welfare of sanitation workers.
The musical concert featured talented singers, musicians, actors, and students from music and computer institutes who captivated the audience with their performances. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Master Deepak Kumar, expressing gratitude for the successful execution of the program.
