GDC Paloura commemorates Gandhi Jayanti 2023 with a series of educational activities

Paloura, Sept 30: Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura celebrated Gandhi Jayanti 2023 on the theme of “Truth & Non-Violence” through a series of engaging activities jointly organized by the Departments of History and Political Science. The commemoration took place from September 12, 2023, to September 30, 2023, under the guidance of Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal of the college. These activities aimed to help students better understand Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of Truth and Non-Violence.
The celebrations began with the screening of a documentary on Gandhi’s life and philosophy. Students also participated in a rally within the college to create awareness about the principles of Truth and Non-Violence.
Students actively engaged on social media platforms by posting reels and content related to Gandhi’s teachings, reaching out to a wider audience and spreading the message of truth and non-violence.
A visit to the college library was organized to acquaint students with books on Mahatma Gandhi, allowing them to delve deeper into his thoughts and ideologies.
A symposium was conducted where students discussed Gandhian Philosophy of Truth and Non-Violence, sharing their insights and perspectives on these principles.
Students actively participated in a cleanliness drive within the college campus, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness. They also met with the sanitation staff to appreciate and celebrate their contribution to maintaining sanitation within the college.
Students were shown a documentary on Gandhi Ji’s Sabarmati Ashram, shedding light on its historical significance.
Several competitions were held as part of the celebration, including Slogan Writing, Collage Making, and Essay Writing, all centered around the theme of Truth and Non-Violence.

• Essay Writing Competition: Riya Verma (First Prize), Simran Kumari (Second Prize), Sahil Manhas (Third Prize)
• Collage Making Competition: Lalit Manhas (First Prize), Preeti Devi (Second Prize), Khushi Sepolia (Third Prize)
Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal of the college, extended congratulations to the competition winners and appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and all participants. The entire program was effectively coordinated and organized by Prof. Vishal Magotra, Prof. Vijay Kumar, and Prof. Shikha Bhasin, who ensured the success of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, fostering a deeper understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring values among the students.
