Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 3: The Jammu and Kashmir police organised special counseling camps in Srinagar for the aspirants of Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) and Kashmir Police Service (KPS).
For the first time since the outbreak of insurgency in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir police has organized such a camp at a women's college for the youths.
The main aim of this camp is to guide the aspirants preparing for the KAS and KPS examinations scheduled to be held very soon. The new crop of IPS and KPS officers explained to the aspirants about various ways to prepare themselves for the exams.
"The camp is not over yet and is being conducted in various places. So the aspirants should come and participate in it, as they will get to know the guidelines, the pattern of the exams and the books to be recommended and finally how to study of which the graduates are neither experienced nor aware of," said Mehak Fayaz, KAS aspirant.Similar such education camps are being organized across the state.
Some 80 aspirants belonging to various parts of Srinagar attended the camp. The aspirants seemed grateful to the police officials for holding such camps in the heart of city.
"Earlier, we had the least idea about how to appear in KAS exams and face the interview. Those who belonged to the police department and also cleared these exams provided all the information to us. The counseling camp is proving to be beneficial for us," said Kumeel Hassan, KPS aspirant.
After Omar Abdullah's Government came into power in Kashmir, police have been given extra powers not only to maintain the law and order of the state, but also to help common people in their day-to-day problems.
