Prof. Risha Kumari spearheaded the event under the guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College.
The event began with a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi Ji, paying homage to the Father of the Nation.
Prof. Risha Kumari, the Convener of the event, shed light on the historical significance of Sabarmati Ashram. She revealed that the original name of Sabarmati Ashram is “Satyagraha Ashram” and highlighted its location on the banks of the River Sabarmati in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Prof. Kumari explained that Sabarmati Ashram was established with a dual mission - to be an institution dedicated to the pursuit of truth and to provide a platform for a group of non-violent workers committed to securing India’s freedom. She stressed the importance of preserving historical landmarks like Sabarmati Ashram as they serve as a vital link to India’s rich heritage.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar from the Department of Statistics elucidated the aim of the slide show screening. He emphasized that the event aimed to impart valuable insights to students about the historical significance of Sabarmati Ashram in India’s arduous struggle for freedom.
In addition to the organizers, the event was witnessed by esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Priya Sharma, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, and Dr. Ekta Rani.
