GDC Kathua lead 'Ek October, Ek Ghante Ke Liye Swacchta' drive | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 1: NSS volunteers of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua continued their active participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign by organizing a cleanliness drive within and outside the college campus. The drive was carried out as part of the nationwide "Ek October, Ek Ghante Ke Liye, Subah Dus Baje Se, Swacchta Ke Liye Kare Shramdaan" campaign on October 1, 2023. The cleanliness drive was launched in the college campus with the participation of Principal Prof. Seema Mir, staff members, NSS Program Officers, and dedicated NSS volunteers. The areas covered during the drive included the college auditorium, Geography Department, Girls Park, administrative block, and the NSS Park. The primary focus was on the removal of plastic, polythene, and other waste materials from these areas. After successfully conducting the cleanliness drive within the college premises, the NSS volunteers extended their efforts to the NSS-adopted village, Bhagthali, located in the Jarai Panchayat of Nagri Block, Kathua. In the village, volunteers engaged in a door-to-door campaign and a cleanliness drive, working hand in hand with the villagers to promote cleanliness and hygiene. The active participation of the villagers in the campaign boosted the morale of the NSS volunteers and emphasized the importance of community involvement in cleanliness initiatives. The event concluded with the Swacchta pledge, with senior volunteer Meenakshi Bakshi leading the pledge. The entire event was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and the diligent supervision of NSS Program Officers Prof. Manmohan Singh, Prof. Neha Bandral, and Dr. Suresh Sharma. GDC Kathua's NSS volunteers are committed to contributing to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and fostering a cleaner and healthier environment. |
