2/3/2009 9:55:31 PM

Early Times Report
Srinagar : The political leadership and civil societies of both India and Pakistan should resume the dialogue for peace which has suffered a setback following the Mumbai terror attacks, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the CPI(M) saidon Tuesday.
"For maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the sub-continent including Jammu and Kashmir, both the neighbouring countries should capitalise on earlier peace efforts and push forward the dialogue process that suffered a setback due to the unfortunate Mumbai attacks," the CPI(M)'s State Secretary M Y Tarigami said while addressing a public meeting in his home constituency of Kulgam in South Kashmir.
The political leadership and civil societies of both the countries should work out a vibrant and viable mechanism for broader deliberations on various aspects of the issue, he said.
Tarigami felt that all political parties should rise above narrow political considerations and make collective and unified efforts to achieve peace and mitigate people's sufferings.
Tarigami said the government should fulfil its commitments made to the people and translate promises into actions. He sought people's active role in this regard and said that peace, progress and prosperity were inseparable components of healthy development of the state.
Referring to the improvement in the situation in the state, Tarigami welcomed handing over the security responsibility of Srinagar city to Jammu and Kashmir Police.
