CBC, MC Pulwama organize awareness program cum cleanliness drive

JAMMU, Oct 1: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organized an awareness program and cleanliness drive at Town Hall in Pulwama. The event was organized by the Field Office, Anantnag, in collaboration with the Municipal Council (MC) Pulwama, as part of the Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath initiative, an hour-long nationwide cleanliness campaign under Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) - 2023.
The program aimed to undertake Shramdaan activities and generate mass awareness through community participation to promote the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, FO Anantnag, provided an overview of the SHS-2023 campaign. He emphasized that this year's focus is on visual cleanliness and the welfare of Safai Mitras. The initiative, "Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath," aims to create a Jan Andolan (people's movement) for cleanliness and sensitize people at the grassroots level to the collective efforts required to achieve a garbage-free India.
CEO Municipal Council, Pulwama, Wali Mohammad Wani, stressed the need for increased efforts at both the individual and community levels to achieve a Clean India. He acknowledged the significant contribution of Safai Mitras across the nation in keeping public spaces clean. Sh. Wani also highlighted the importance of changing people's behavior and outlook to recognize that cleanliness is an integral part of daily life.
Secretary MC Pulwama, Tariq Ahmad, and other speakers emphasized the importance of individual and collective efforts in achieving the goal of a "Garbage-Free India."
CBC donated a dustbin to MC Pulwama as a symbol of its commitment to the cause of cleanliness during the event.
