GDC Sidhra holds massive cleanliness drive to commemorate Swachhata Pakhwada - Swachhata Hi Sewa”

Jammu, Oct 1: Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized a large-scale cleanliness drive as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada - Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) 2023 to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary. The initiative aimed to pay tribute to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, with a special focus on cleanliness and sanitation.
The event commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony in which staff members, NSS volunteers from GDC Sidhra, Shameer Ahmed, Sarpanch of Bain Bajalta, and members of the Civil Society actively participated.
During the pledge, they committed to following the path of truth and working towards national integration, aligning with the principles upheld by Mahatma Gandhi.
Following the pledge, a dedicated cleanliness drive was organized at the Bajalta Railway Station, where NSS volunteers meticulously cleaned the area.
The cleanliness drive received support from GRP officials, further emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sanitation.
Dr. B. B Anand, Principal of GDC Sidhra, interacted with the volunteers and stressed the significance of cleanliness and sanitation, highlighting their integral role in Gandhian principles. He emphasized that cleanliness not only ensures the well-being of citizens but also reduces the burden on healthcare systems and contributes to environmental sustainability.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, NSS Program Officer, under the guidance and leadership of Dr. B. B Anand, the Principal of the college.
The initiative received support from various faculty members, including Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Dr. Anu Sharma, Dr. Princy, Dr. Indu Koul, and others, who actively participated in the event.
GDC Sidhra’s cleanliness drive exemplified the commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and healthy India, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in everyday life.
