Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Oct 2: The NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Govt. Degree College, Vijaypur, took proactive steps under the 'Swachhata Hi Sewa' campaign, in line with the broader 'Meri Mati, Mera Desh' (My Soil, My Nation), 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' (Drug-Free India Campaign), and Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations 2023. They organized a door-to-door awareness campaign, educating citizens about the significance of cleanliness and its positive impact on health.
NSS volunteers, along with students and staff of the college, enthusiastically participated in this cleanliness awareness drive. The initiative was launched by the college's Principal, Dr. Vandana Gupta, within the college campus, but it extended to various localities in Samba and Jammu districts.
During the campaign, volunteers diligently collected plastic, polythene, and other waste materials from their surroundings and ensured proper disposal. More than fifty dedicated volunteers actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to making their surroundings cleaner and free of plastic pollution.
The door-to-door campaign and cleanup drive were conducted with meticulous care, with volunteers collecting plastic and polythene waste from designated areas and ensuring its proper disposal, emphasizing the importance of responsible waste management.
The event concluded with every student and staff member of the college taking the Swachhta pledge, reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness and hygiene. The entire initiative was conducted under the patronage of Principal Dr. Vandana Gupta and the supervision of NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, and NSS Convenor, Dr. Shittal Sharma. Prof. Poonam Kundan, Convenor of EcoClub, played a vital role in coordinating the campaign.
