| Zargar: Railways failed to pay compensation to land ousters | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 3: A deputation of centre of Indian trade unions led by Javed Ahmad Zargar called on chairman railway board and apprised him about the problems of the workers engaged in construction of railway line from Reasi to Sungal Dam in J&K. Zargar said, that till date land ousters have not been paid any compensation for land acquired by the railway authorities. All retrenched workers be paid their dues. He further said, that northern railways should undertake the construction work of railways project and ban the subletting and contracting out the work to private companies, as they exploited the social security and economic security provision as land down in the labour laws. The Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) Jammu is not working properly hence the workers are deprived of their socio-economic rights as per law, and beside construction work of Railways project should be started on previous survey and proposal for realignment proposal should be rejected and Rs 20 crore of public exchequers spent should be audited and realization of facts and the enquiry in this case should be hold. The other members with the delegation were Om Parkash, Nirdosh Uppal, Sham Parasad Kesar, Romesh Chand and Kishore Kumar, etc.
