| J&K miniature India exhibiting unity in diversity: Omar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, February, 03 – Highlighting the importance of the talent, ability and energy of youth, the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah called for channelizing youth power in a befitting manner to shape the future of the State and the Country. He was speaking to the cadets of National Cadet Core (NCC) J&K Wing, who represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Republic Day celebration at New Delhi, here this evening. He said India possesses greatest youth force and the need of hour is to nurture it properly for the progress and prosperity of the Country.
"In youth we have golden opportunity to achieve new highs and safeguard the future of the Country", he said adding that the development of youth in all respects should be the priority. He beseeched upon the young people to feel their responsibilities and come forward to play the leading role in all the fields of life.
Mr. Abdullah said that Cadets of NCC Jammu and Kashmir showcased the State's composite culture and conveyed the message of unity in diversity at the national level for which they deserve appreciation. He said Jammu and Kashmir is aboard of various cultures, heritages, religions and traditions. "These have lived in amity since times immemorial and complemented each other in the growth and development", he said adding that Jammu and Kashmir is the miniature India depicting unity in diversity.
The Chief Minister said that NCC is right organization to propagate the communal harmony, love and brotherhood. The cadets have a role in creating awareness about preservation and protection of green wealth, water bodies and ecology of the State. "You could make the people understand the importance of forests, rivers, lakes, tributaries and environment", he said asking the cadets of NCC in particular and the youth of the State in general to also be active participants in stopping the exploitation in the name of religion, creed, caste, colour and region. "You have also to stand up against the use of money and mussel power for vested interests", he added.
Earlier, the Director General of NCC Jammu and Kashmir, Col. P. P. Singh gave resume of the NCC and its growth in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the NCC in India is the largest youth organization in the world with 13 lakh cadets which are expected to go to 15 lakh in next two years. He said NCC took birth in Jammu and Kashmir in 1954 and presently there are 21,000 cadets here.
Col. Singh giving introduction of the Chief Minister to the cadets said that Mr. Abdullah is the youngest Chief Minister in the Country who has achieved the excellence and highest position for his merit and ability.
The cadets on the occasion presented a cultural programme conveying a strong message against the social evils and depicting State's rich cultural amity. A Dogri folk song "Dooli Dool Baja" was presented by the cadets using drum, dool, harmonium and tabla.
