| Villager’s ear chopped off in Doda | | JeM militant among 2 killed | | Jammu, Sep 20 : Security forces gunned downed a Jaish-e-Muhammad militant in an encounter, while unidentified gunmen killed a woman and chopped off ear of a villager in the mountainous Doda district, since last 24 hours. Official sources said that acting on a tip off security forces launched a search operation in Marwah area of Kishtwar, late last night. The contact was made with a group of militants leading to a fierce gun battle, they added. In the ensuing encounter one militant was killed, while three of his associates managed to escape, sources said adding the slain militant has been identified as Javeed alias Aatish of Jash-e-Muhammad. An AK-56 assault rifle, two magazines, 40 rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from the slain militant. Ahmed had been active in Marwah since 2002. In a separate incident unidentified gunmen, suspected to be militants, barged their entry in a village in Gandoh area of Doda district, during the wee hours on Wednesday. The gunmen reportedly entered in a house and shot dead one Razia Begum. She was fired from a point blank range leading to her instant death, sources added. It was reliably learnt that militants abducted Abdul Gani in Chatroo village of Kishtwar and late released him after chopping his ear. He was accused of being the informer of the security forces. The victim has been shifted to Sub District Hospital Kishtwar, where his condition was stated to be stable. |
