| Employ yourself, experts tell youth | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, FEB 3: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Institute, Jammu organized a one-day Intensive Industrial Motivation Campaign on ‘Self Employment’ in collaboration with S.P.M.R. College of Commerce, Career Counselling Cell, here today. Director, Higher Education, Dr. N. D. Wani was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 150 Final Year students of B. Com, B.B.A. and B.C.A. of the college were also present in the largely-attended audience. Addressing the function, Dr. Wani said that gainful employment lies in industrial entrepreneurship and our skilled youth can be absorbed in this vital sector of economy. He appreciated the MSME Development Institute in organizing such programmes and requested them to organize more such events in the peripheral areas so that the youth there are also motivated towards self employment ventures. Earlier, Principal S.P.M.R. Commerce College, in his welcome address, said this programme assumes significance in light of drying up of government jobs as well as opening of new avenues in the industrial arena. Deputy Director, MSME Development Institute, Mr. Virendra Sharma, in his address, made the participants aware of various Central government schemes like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, Rajiv Gandhi Udyami Mitra Yojna and various incentive-based programmes. He also briefed the audience about the package of incentives available to the entrepreneurs both under the Central as well as State Industrial Policy. He also assured the interested youth that all sort of handholding will be extended to them as and when they decide to opt for a career in the private sector. Director, TV Super Filter, Mr. Taranveer Singh Gujral, a well known industrialist and a national award recipient, motivated the youth to venture into self-employment. Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell, Dr. Twinkle Suri, who also anchored the programme, dwelt at length on the need for such informative campaigns for the benefit of students. Head of Department, Commerce, Dr. Satinder Singh presented the vote of thanks to the experts and students for taking part in this programme.
