Inter-School Zonal Level Athletics meet and trials commence in Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, Oct 4: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Akhnoor, commenced the Inter-School Zonal Level Athletics Meet and Trials at the Sports Stadium Palwan, Akhnoor. The event featured various running, jumping, and throwing competitions for boys in the U-14, U-17, and U-19 categories.
Inaugural Event: Dr. Madhu Sharma, Principal of GHSS Sohal, presided over the event as the chief guest. In her address, she encouraged students to uphold team spirit, cooperation, and coordination while participating in sports. She emphasized that the skills acquired through sports activities are valuable for various aspects of life, including academics and future careers.
Participation: Approximately 300 male athletes from different government and private schools in Zone Akhnoor participated in the event. They demonstrated their talent in various track and field events, including 100m, 200m, 600m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, as well as Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, and Shot Put Throw in the throwing category.
Objective: The primary aim of the competition was to identify the most talented athletes in each discipline who will represent their respective schools in the upcoming Inter Zonal District Level Tournaments.
Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Akhnoor emphasized that athletics is considered the foundation of all sports. He encouraged athletes to dedicate themselves to rigorous training in preparation for future district-level competitions. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the Manager of Sports Stadium Palwan for providing the venue and other necessary facilities for the event.
The event aims to promote sportsmanship and identify promising athletes who will represent their schools in higher-level competitions.
