| Madan for improving road connectivity in rural pockets | | |

Jammu, February 03- Member Parliament, Mr. Madan Lal Sharma today laid the foundation stone of Rs. 17 crore project for upgradation of 25 Km Khuga-Jeri road under PMGSY Phase VI in Akhnoor block. The work is expected to complete within 18 months.
The construction of this road would provide better road connectivity to over 25000 inhabitants of a dozen villages including Sangani, Barui. Godhan, Tarchwan, Amalewali, Mandrian Mera, Payan, Sarla and its adjoining areas. The road would connect with Talwara, Reasi there by shortening the distance between Reasi and Jammu for the commuters.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Madan Lal Sharma said that road connectivity is imperative for accelerating the development of the rural pockets of the State and Centre as well as State governments are giving foremost priority to this vital sector. He apprised that maximum area of Akhnoor Constituency has been networked with motorable road links and efforts are afoot to extend road connectivity to the entire block.
The Member Parliament issued instructions to the engineers to prepare estimates of important projects envisaged for the all round development of the area, so that work on these projects can take off at the earliest. He asked them to complete the ongoing projects within a stipulated time frame. He also insisted on maintaining quality of works by adhering to the quality standards and norms.
Chief Engineer, PMGSY Mr. Khalid Muzaffar, Superintending Engineer, PMGSY Mr. Babu Hussain, Executive Engineer R&B, Mr D. D. Gorka, Executive Engineer, PHE Akhnoor, Mr. Vinod Sharma and all sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
