Jammu administration ready to facilitate devotees during Navratras, Ram Navami

JAMMU, Oct 5: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh, chaired a meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Mela Bahu Fort during Navratra festival, as well as the Ram Navami and Dussehra celebrations in the city. The discussions in the meeting revolved around the roles and responsibilities assigned to various departments and organisations to ensure the smooth execution of these events.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has been entrusted with the vital responsibility of maintaining cleanliness in and around temples and the city. This includes regular cleaning and fumigation of public areas. Additionally, arrangements for water tanks and mobile toilets near prominent temples and public places have been made.
The Public Works Department has been given the task of ensuring that the roads leading to significant locations, particularly the one leading to Bagh e Bahu temple from Bikram Chowk, are in optimal condition.
The Jal Shakti Department has been directed to guarantee regular drinking water supply to the prominent temples. They are also responsible for creating contingency plans and have appointed a Nodal Officer for round-the-clock duty. The Power Development Department has been told for ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply to prominent temples during the festivities.
Medical facilities, including ambulance services, will be available at Bahu Fort. The Red Cross and Chief Medical Officer Jammu are also involved in this aspect. Paramedical staff are to remain at standby near Bagh e Bahu and along the jhanki routes. Fire and Emergency services have been told to remain available at vital spots for emergencies during the festivals.
Similarly responsibilities for Traffic management was given to respective department while the Transport Department has been told to increase transportation services to Bahu Fort. The Food Safety and Legal Metrology Departments have been asked to ready their flying squads to monitor the quality of food and essential supplies.
Representatives from religious organisations and temple authorities also contributed valuable inputs during the meeting. They emphasised the importance of security, well-lit surroundings and ambulance services during the Navratra festival and Dussehra celebrations at Parade Ground and other locations.
The meeting was attended by various district officers besides representatives from social and religious organisations.
