Police arrest bootlegger with 44 bottles of illicit liquor

SAMBA, Oct 6: In line with its ongoing crackdown on the sale of illicit liquor, initiated on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, the police have successfully apprehended a bootlegger and seized forty-four (44) bottles of illicit liquor, each of 180 ml, from his possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Tilak Raj, residing in Tibba Deoli, Tehsil Bishnah, district Jammu.
Acting on a tip-off about the illegal sale of liquor in the SIDCO Industrial area of Bari Brahmana, a police team from Police Station Bari Brahmana, led by SHO PS Bari Brahmana Sumit Sharma and supervised by SDPO Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, swiftly responded to the information. They caught the accused red-handed at his 'Dhaba,' where he was selling illicit liquor to the public, and confiscated 44 bottles of JK Special Whisky, each containing 180 ml.
A Case FIR No. 236/2023 under section 48 (f) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, and the investigation is underway.
Samba Police has now apprehended a total of thirty-six (36) notorious bootleggers involved in the sale of illicit liquor and filed twenty-seven (27) FIRs in a short span. The police continue to conduct proactive and intensive raids to apprehend wrongdoers in the district, following the directives of SSP Samba, Benam Tosh. This demonstrates their unwavering commitment to curbing the illegal sale and distribution of illicit liquor in the region.
