An urgent meeting was convened at the Chamber House, presided over by Arun Gupta, President of CCI Jammu, and attended by other office bearers of the Jammu Chamber.
During the meeting, Arun Gupta conveyed sincere gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for demonstrating a strong commitment to the aspirations of the people of Jammu by honoring the request made by the Jammu Chamber.
It is worth noting that the Jammu Chamber had previously called for the suspension of property tax and had even organized a Jammu Bandh in support of this demand. The overwhelming support received from the people of Jammu underscored the significance of this issue within the community.
Arun Gupta urged the government to engage in a comprehensive dialogue with all relevant stakeholders regarding property tax. He stressed the importance of formulating a well-considered property tax policy through extensive consultations, believing that this approach would contribute to the development and prosperity of the region.
Additionally, Arun Gupta welcomed the decision of the Lieutenant Governor to address concerns related to erroneous and inflated electricity bills in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that many individuals have suffered due to these inaccuracies, leading to undue hardship.

The President of the Jammu Chamber also urged the Power Department to prioritize the rectification of false and inflated bills and expedite the resolution process to alleviate the burden on affected households.
Furthermore, he called upon the government to halt any harassment of citizens related to the implementation of pre-paid meters, expressing the Chamber's opposition to the implementation of the prepaid meter system.
