Inter-District Divisional Level Football Competitions kick off in Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 6: The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports Jammu (DYSSO) under the leadership of Sukhdev Raj Sharma inaugurated the Inter-District Divisional Level Football Competitions today at Austro Turf Parade Ground in Jammu. The tournament features age groups U/17, U/19 for girls and U/14 for boys.
Seven districts from the Jammu division, namely Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kishtwar, and Reasi, are participating in this exciting competition. A total of thirteen teams from the aforementioned age groups have gathered to showcase their football skills, with approximately 200 participants representing Jammu Division who were selected from their respective districts.
During the opening ceremony, DYSSO Jammu expressed his gratitude and extended a warm welcome to all the participants in District Jammu. He was accompanied by officials from the education department, including ZPEOs (Zone Planning and Execution Officers) from Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, and Dansal, along with other district officials. The participants took a pledge to abide by the rules and regulations of the competition while upholding the spirit of sportsmanship.
In the first match for the U/14 boys, District Poonch defeated District Samba with a convincing score of 5-0. Amant Ali of Poonch scored the first goal in the first half, and in the second half, Farhan Ali, Mohd Aqib, Baber Ali, and Waris Ali each contributed a goal to secure the victory.
The second match in the same age group saw Kishtwar triumph over Rajouri with a score of 5-0. Abran Imtiaz scored two goals in the first half, while Vishawagit, Sushain Raj, and Saifulah each added one goal to their tally in the second half.
In the U/19 girls category, Kathua emerged victorious, defeating Samba with a score of 5-0. Sharanya Devi from Kathua scored three goals, while Nadika and Shruti contributed one goal each to secure the win.
In the U/17 girls category, Jammu defeated Samba with a score of 3-0. Shine Sathotra, Samridhi Sharma, and Ruhani from Jammu each scored a goal against their rivals.
In the second U/17 girls match, Kathua beat Poonch by a score of 1-0 through a penalty shootout, with Prachi of Kathua netting the crucial goal.
The tournament is being organized under the patronage of Director Youth Services and Sports JK UT, Subash Chander Chibber (JKAS), under the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Suram Chand Sharma (JKAS), and the overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma. It promises to be an exciting showcase of football talent from across the Jammu Division.
