| Seats reserved for women, disabled in buses | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, FEB 3: For the convenience of women folk and physically challenged persons during travel in state carriage buses in the state, the Government issued circular for proper seating arrangements for accommodation of women folk and physically handicapped persons.
According to the circular it has been enjoined upon all the public service vehicle permit holders to reserve specific seats in their vehicles for these categories of passengers which should be properly painted in white alphabets containing the words “Reserved for women and Handicapped persons” in Urdu and Hindi.
Big Buses seats 1 to 12 & for Medium & Mini Buses 1to 9 seats should be kept reserved for these categories. However, in case these categories are not traveling in the bus, the same may be allowed to be used by the normal male passengers, the circular says.
All the enforcement agencies have been accordingly directed to ensure that these instructions are implemented effectively in letter and spirit.
