Pay hike, says CM

Jammu, Feb 2: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reiterated the commitment that recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission will be implemented ‘soon’ and government is also considering increase in retirement age of employees from 58 to 60 years.
The Chief Minister said this while interacting with various deputations that called on him here this evening.
Responding to a demand by BJP deputation and Low Paid Employees led by Majid regarding implementation of 6th Pay Commission recommendations, the Chief Minister assured the deputations that Government is positively and actively considering the implementation of 6th Pay Commission report and also the enhancement in the retirement age of State Government employees. He said the issue has been discussed with the employee leaders by him and the Finance Minister. The Government, he said, has agreed in principal to implement the recommendation of 6th Pay Commission however, the huge amount required for the same is being worked out and Central assistance sought. He said the matter was being persuaded with the Centre actively.
An official spokesman said that several deputations called on Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah here this evening and presented him memoranda for development demands, sought his intervention in solving problems and gave proposals for launch of new schemes.
A deputation of BJP legislators led by MLA Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta presented a memorandum of demands to the Chief Minister and discussed various issues of public importance in detail.
Interacting with a deputation from Dachhan, the Chief Minister said that Rs. 100 crore road projects to open up this far-flung and backward area has been prepared adding that he would persuade at the Central level and with the Prime Minister for the funding of this project.
A deputation from Kargil led by Executive Councillors, Aga Syed Kazim and Aga Syed Muhatamadi in their meeting with Chief Minister discussed various matters pertaining to the development of Kargil. The Chief Minister assured them that a Cabinet Minister from Kargil would be inducted in the Cabinet soon.
A deputation of Corporators of Jammu Municipal Corporation led by Ex-Mayor, Mr. Manmohan Singh discussed civic amenities and issues pertaining to the beautification and development of Jammu city.
Other deputations which called on Chief Minister included a deputation of Anjum-e-Moin-ul-Islam, Leh, a deputation of J&K Cooperative Housing, a deputation of Bari-Brahamna Industrial Association, a deputation from Dachhan led by Mr. Om Prakash, a deputation of J&K Non-Gazetted JAKEDA Employees Union, a deputation led by Advocate Shabir Ahmad, a deputation from Turtuk, Leh led by Mr. Ghulam Hassan, a deputation from Kalakote and a deputation from Shopian.
Various political leaders, social workers and scores of people also met the Chief Minister individually and brought to his notice their demands and problems of their areas.
