Rajiv Mahajan criticizes Govt for unscheduled power cuts in Jammu, calls for LG's intervention

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 8: Rajiv Mahajan, President of Shri Ram Sena, J&K, has voiced strong concerns regarding the ongoing issue of unscheduled power cuts in Jammu City, which have severely impacted the daily lives of its citizens. Despite the government's ambitious plans to transform Jammu into a Smart City, the persistent lack of consistent and uninterrupted power supply has hindered the region's progress and development.
In a press statement issued today, Rajiv Mahajan expressed his dismay over the plight of Jammu City residents, who have been enduring the consequences of irregular power supply for an extended period. He highlighted not only the prolonged power outages but also the increased power bills following the installation of smart meters, which has added to the residents' burdens.
"It is disheartening to witness such a stark contrast between promises of modernization and the daily struggles faced by our citizens," Mahajan remarked.
Mahajan further pointed out that the government has repeatedly set deadlines to ensure 24x7 power supply in Jammu, but these promises remain unfulfilled, leaving the people in distress. He raised questions about the true meaning of providing 24x7 power supply, asking whether it implies uninterrupted power 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or if the government considers 7 hours out of 24 as sufficient.
He emphasized that the residents of Jammu dutifully pay their electricity bills and rightfully expect reliable and uninterrupted power supply in return. However, the authorities in charge have not shown sufficient seriousness in addressing the hardships faced by the people of Jammu due to the absence of basic amenities.
Rajiv Mahajan called upon the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to intervene promptly and issue the necessary directives to ensure consistent and regular power supply in Jammu City. He stressed the urgency of government action to alleviate the suffering of its citizens and to uphold its commitment to providing essential services, which are fundamental rights for all. This development underscores the critical need for immediate attention to the power supply issues in Jammu and the demand for accountability from government authorities to fulfill their promises of uninterrupted electricity for the city's residents. Further updates on this matter will be awaited as the situation unfolds.
