Tehsildar Zaheer Rana Applauded for Innovative Community-Driven Development Projects in Tehsil Marmat

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 8: Tehsildar Marmat Zaheer Rana has earned accolades for his pioneering approach to fostering social work and community engagement in developmental initiatives within Tehsil Marmat. These unique development projects stand out as they were executed without government funding and relied on the cooperation of private construction companies and local residents.
Tehsildar Zaheer Rana played a pivotal role in motivating various stakeholders to contribute to the development of projects crucial to the general public. He personally oversaw and supervised the completion of these projects.
Notably, two projects with a combined value of lakhs have been recently completed in Tehsil Marmat under the leadership of Zaheer Rana, Tehsildar Marmat. The first project involved the construction of an 820 square feet podium at GHSS Goha, which now serves as a venue for various community events and celebrations. The second project focused on the refurbishment of a drinking water spring well. An old and deteriorating spring was revitalized with the use of cemented outlines and beautiful tiles. Located on a main road, this rejuvenated spring now serves not only locals but also passersby, schoolchildren, and residents from neighboring areas. The construction of this beautiful spring also garnered support from local residents who contributed to its completion.
Tehsil Marmat is a remote hilly area, approximately 35 kilometers southeast of the District headquarters in Doda. The region lacked a playground, stadium, or park for recreational purposes, causing inconvenience for the youth who had to travel to distant places for sports activities. Recognizing this need, Tehsildar Marmat received numerous representations and delegations from locals, especially the youth, requesting the identification of land for a playground in Marmat.
Responding to these legitimate demands and with a commitment to addressing this deficiency, Zaheer Rana, Tehsildar Marmat, identified an eleven-kanal state-owned land in the Dranga area of Tehsil Marmat. The construction of the playground began as a resource management and social work initiative. The project started by repurposing the excess material from ongoing road construction, effectively utilizing resources that would otherwise have gone to waste and caused environmental issues.
Commencing in November 2021, the project is progressing rapidly, with continuous efforts to transform this land into a playground. Upon completion, it will not only cater to sports enthusiasts but also benefit the wider public by providing a place for community gatherings and celebrations. This endeavor aims to keep youth engaged in positive activities, away from drugs and other social issues.
