| MM grants bail to GCET employee accused of forgery, fraud | | | Jammu, Sep 20 Municipal Magistrate Jammu Sanjay Parihar has granted absolute bail to an employee of Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu who has been booked by Crime Branch Jammu for forging salary slips and obtaining loan from various banks. As per the prosecution story, the accused Darshan Kumar son of Tilak Raj resident of Talab Tillo, Bohri Jammu was a junior assistant posted at GCET Jammu. The accused allegedly prepared fake salary slips and obtain loan worth more than one lakh from various banks of the city by using forged documents. Police claimed that on being informed by Principal GCET Jammu an investigation was conducted during which it was allegedly found that the accused junior assistant forged the signature of accountant GCET and prepared loan cases in his favour. Using these certificates the accused allegedly managed to procure loan worth Rs 20,000 from Punjab and Sindh Bank, Rs 50,000 from Alaqai Dihati Bank and Rs 40,000 from Citizens Cooperative Bank. During the investigation, claimed the police, it was also learnt that the accused has given false address in all the three banks to procure loan. In view of the investigation the Crime Branch Jammu registered a case against Darshan Kumar under section 420, 467, 468, 471 RPC and he was wanted in the case. The accused filed a bail application before the Municipal Magistrate (Duty Magistrate) and surrendered before it claiming himself to an innocent man, who was allegedly being implicated in false and frivolous case by the Crime Branch Jammu. The court after hearing both the sides and going through the case record observed that the investigation in the case was going on from the last more than eight months and investigation agency has claimed that the accused was not cooperating with it. The court, however, observed that from the perusal of the record it is evident that the accused has cooperated with the investigation agency, which has almost completed the investigation and seized all the relevant record from the concerned banks. Accused was thus granted an interim bail on September 12, which was made absolute by the court on Tuesday. |
