Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 9: Mayor of Jammu city, Rajinder Sharma on Monday stressed upon the development of positive thoughts and credited the same for building a strong character for a strong nation.
Addressing a mammoth gathering of students at Padma Shree Padma Sachdev (PSPS) College for Women in Gandhi Nagar during the anti-corruption campaign with the slogan of “Imandar Jammu, Shandar Jammu”, the Mayor said that positive thoughts are above all to control ones behavior which further improves ones habits and ultimately improves character.
“Today positive thoughts are taking our nation to the path of progress,” he maintained and quoted the case of legendary Bollywood singer, late Lata Mageshkar who throughout her life remained determined to work with integrity and credibility and throughout her life displayed simplicity by only wearing white sarees. “Once a party offered her two million dollars for singing in a function which she rejected as the same was against her principles and for her ideology she remained a top singer of the world,” the Mayor further said. He then quoted the case of former President of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
“When Dr. Kalam was asked on which day he would like to take oath, he replied that every day was auspicious for him,” Sharma said stressing on the development of good thoughts.
He said that he expressed confidence that views of the younger generation today are good which will surely take the nation to the path of progress.
The Mayor also recited some couplets in this regard to say that Lord Krishna had said that where ever there is truth, there is victory.
He said that he was sure that the students will take the anti-corruption campaign to masses for ending political corruption, not preferring caste candidates in elections for public representatives and for voting to upright and educated candidates.
