DDC reviews implementation of JJM in Doda

DODA, Oct 10: District Development Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, as the Chairman District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), reviewed the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district here at a meeting of Jal Shakti Department (JSD) held in DC office complex.
The DDC was informed that 185 projects at an estimated cost of Rs 748.31 crore have been tendered, allotted and execution has been started on ground to provide safe drinking water through tap water connections to every households as envisaged under JJM.
The JJM schemes include construction of 372 Slow Sand Filtration plants of which 207 have been allotted and 33 started on the ground, while out of 2 Rapid Sand Filtration plants, one has been allotted.
Similarly, work on 3 Borewells has been started out of 05 sanctioned Borewell projects. DDC reviewed scheme wise and JE wise progress of JJM schemes, issuing specific direction and timelines.
The Chairman DWSM (DDC) set the target of 100% completion of 98 schemes in all respects by 31st of October 2023.
The SE Hydraulic Circle Doda was asked to certify the completion of all the laying of pipeline, construction of GSRs to 100%, and Slow Sand Filtration plants up to 50% in respect of all the 185 allotted schemes on 31st of October 2023. Taking strong note of slow progress in some of the schemes, SE has been directed to submit the list of low performing Engineers for initiating the inquiry and fixing the responsibility of the deliberate attempt of hampering the prestigious union government scheme (JJM). DDC has further asked to seek an explanation from the Engineers who failed to address/report the issues/ bottlenecks in time, resulting in hampering the smooth execution, thus delaying the work beyond stipulated time frame. Directions have also been issued to conduct a meeting of Executive Engineers with the contractors of ailing projects to ensure the work is carried out smoothly adhering to the given timeline. They have been asked to coordinate with the forest officers and ensure the work is executed smoothly in the forest areas adhering to the timelines.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Doda Pran Singh, CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, SE Hydraulic Circle Doda Anil Gupta, Executive Engineers (All), AEEs/AEs/JEs (All) and other concerned officials.
