Shiv Sena accuses BJP of avoiding voter engagement in Jammu, Kashmir
10/10/2023 11:12:48 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 10: In the wake of the recent Kargil elections, which took place for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, Shiv Sena (UBT) President, Manish Sahni, has alleged that the BJP is shying away from facing the voters in Jammu and Kashmir, exposing the dissatisfaction of the region's populace with the Modi government's decisions, contrary to the promises made to the nation.
Shiv Sena (UBT) activists have voiced their concerns by participating in a joint protest organized by opposition parties in Jammu. The demonstration underscores the urgency of reinstating the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, reinvigorating democratic processes, and addressing the grievances of the people.
During his address, Sahni strongly criticized the government's indifference toward critical issues such as the restoration of statehood, the revival of democratic processes, and the general concerns of the public. He emphasized that a significant majority (80%) of Jammu and Kashmir's population is disenchanted with both the state administration and the central government.
In a bold move, Sahni challenged the government to conduct elections at any level as part of a referendum, citing the BJP's performance in Kargil as a clear indication of the prevailing sentiment. He noted that various segments of Jammu and Kashmir society are coming together to convey a strong message to the BJP, and he hinted at an imminent transformation sweeping through the region.
Sahni further accused the BJP of exploiting Article 370 for electoral gains across the country while avoiding voter engagement in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Jammu region. This assertion highlights the perception that the BJP is avoiding elections in the region.
The protest saw the active participation of several Shiv Sena members, including Meenakshi Chibber, Vikas Bakshi, Sanjeev Kohli, Raj Singh, Shashipal, Geeta, Rajesh Handa, Dimple, and many others.
The statement from Shiv Sena underscores the ongoing political dynamics and concerns surrounding the Jammu and Kashmir region, reflecting the broader discourse on the abrogation of Article 370 and its impact on the local populace.
