BJP accuses NC, PDP, Congress of compromising democracy in J&K
10/10/2023 11:17:46 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 10: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC), the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the Congress, and other political parties in Jammu & Kashmir for what he deemed as their misleading protests against the government. He emphasized that these parties had played a significant role in creating unrest and turmoil in the region, compromising the interests of the people and democracy itself.
In a statement to the media, Kavinder Gupta made it clear that the BJP was not in power in J&K for many decades, and it was the NC, Congress, and PDP that contributed to the instability in the region through their actions. He asserted that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been striving to restore normalcy and democracy in J&K since 2014, with even greater efforts post-2019.
Gupta criticized the opposition parties for organizing protests, noting that the absence of key leaders like Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti from the demonstrations indicated their lack of seriousness. He alleged that these leaders were more inclined towards Pakistan than India and accused them of being the main contributors to the turmoil in Kashmir.
Kavinder Gupta dismissed the accusations that the BJP was responsible for truncating people's rights and undermining democracy in J&K. He claimed that democracy was thriving under PM Modi's leadership and accused the opposition of hypocrisy, citing the Hindi proverb "900 Chuhe Khake Billi……" to describe their actions. He argued that after undermining democracy in J&K, these parties had now decided to pose as champions of people's rights and rule.
This statement by Kavinder Gupta underscores the ongoing political tensions in J&K and the blame game among political parties over the region's political landscape and governance.
