Training programme on 'Recent Trends in Veterinary Research Data Analysis' held at SKUAST-J

JAMMU, Oct 11: A one-day training programme on "Recent Trends in Veterinary Research Data Analysis" was conducted at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.S Pura campus of SKUAST-Jammu. The event was organized under the able guidance and leadership of Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, in collaboration and with funding from the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) - Institutional Development Plan (IDP).
Dr. M.S. Bhadwal, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R.S. Pura, graced the event as the Chief Guest during the inaugural session. In his address, he congratulated the students and faculty members of veterinary sciences who were both trainees and organizers for their efforts in organizing such a significant event. He emphasized the critical role of data analysis in research and how it forms the backbone of scientific investigations. Dr. Bhadwal noted that a data analysis training program equips students with interdisciplinary skills, making them more versatile researchers. Sound data analysis skills are essential for making informed decisions based on empirical evidence, aligning with the evolving nature of veterinary research and the demands of the modern scientific community.
The training program featured expert talks delivered by Prof. Bernt Guldbrandtsen from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Dr. Parmil Kumar, Professor & Head of the Post Graduate Department of Statistics at Jammu University. Practical, hands-on exercises in different examples were conducted by Dr. Dibyendu Chakraborty, Assistant Professor in the Division of Animal Genetics and Breeding (AGB) at R.S. Pura.
Prof. J.S. Soodan, Dean of the Faculty of Dairy Technology, also graced the event and stressed the importance of such training programs for aspiring veterinary researchers.
