Preparation in full swing for upcoming Mega Basohli Navratra Festival

KATHUA, Oct 11: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to finalise arrangements for the grand Navratra Festival being organised in Basohli SubDivision.
President MC Basohli, Sumesh Sapolia; ADC Kathua, Ranjit Singh; ADC Basohli, Ajeet Singh; XEN PWD Basohli, Bharat Gupta; EO Basohli and other Sub Division level officers were also present.
To maintain Sanitation and cleanliness across the township of Basohli, the DC directed EO MC Basohli to depute adequate men and machinery for Navratra festival. He was also directed to ensure proper functioning Street Lights and High Mast lights besides making provisions for illumination of iconic Atal Setu and Basohli Fort.
To give aesthetic look to the Basohli town, the DC directed ZEO to make a canvas of Basohli Art across the town so as to showcase the intricate artistic skills of locals besides promoting quintessential art and craft of the region.
The DC enjoined upon the officials of Floriculture Department to ensure beautification of the area in and around Historical Basohli Fort besides trimming/weeding of bushes and wild growth.
The Animal Husbandry Department and DIET Basohli were asked to earmark their premises for Parking of the Vehicles by cleaning the area well before the scheduled event.
The DC also visited the PWD, PDD Rest Houses and JNV Basohli to assess the boarding and lodging facilities for the visitors coming for the festival ensuring their comfortable and pleasant stay.
Forest Department was directed to carryout cutting of bushes and wild growth en-route Atal Setu and Basohli Market giving a cleaner and neat look to the area.
PDD department was directed to ensure round the clock electricity in Basohli town and Purthu Tourist spot besides making a Power back up plan.
To make Sports activities an added feature during the Basohli festival, the DC directed the Sports department to work out a detailed schedule for conducting sports activities.
PWD was directed to expedite the completion of all ongoing works undertaken in Basohli town.
The DC also informed about hosting a maiden theme based Laser Show at Basohli which will be a special attraction for the visitors coming to witness the World acclaimed Basohli Ramleela.
