Celebration of International Girl Child Day

JAMMU, Oct 11: Govt. Degree College celebrated International Girl Child Day on 11/10/2023 under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative of the Govt. of India. On this occasion various activities were conducted. In declamation, 18 students delivered speeches and in Poster making 12 students expressed themselves and five students recited the poems so as to sensitize the audience. Two NSS volunteers, Mohd Arif Sem 1st and Mohd Rafiq from Sem 3rd, contributed in the management of the event. The programme was organized under over all guidance of the Principal Dr. Preetpal Kour who while speaking on the occasion delivered upon the various shades of the struggle in a Girl Child's life by quoting various inspiring examples from her own life. The prime message of her speech was that "given the fair chance, girls are second to none".
The event was conducted by the Department of Sociology under guidance of Tinu Bala, in collaboration with Department of Political Science and NSS unit. Other faculty members who coordinated the event were Dr. Javid Iqbal Tramboo, Prof Anoj Kumar, Prof. Khalid Sajad Bohra, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Samiti Sharma, Manzoor Ahmed Dar. Manzoor Rathar and Dr. Balvinder Singh.
